OneFifty is a natural complement to the industry-leading work of Time Warner and its divisions HBO, Turner and Warner Bros. Inspired by the nearly 100-year tradition of innovation at our company, we invest in fresh, provocative and compelling storytelling. We engage bold creators to challenge boundaries in all forms of media: features, series, digital, animation, interactive, documentary, VR, experimental and more.
Put simply, our mission is to curate untold stories, invest in artists with fresh voices and incubate content that resonates with diverse global audiences.
Like a VC firm, OneFifty makes smart, small investments in original projects from our storytellers with the goal of surfacing great content within our businesses and across the industry.
We curate projects by leveraging our connections to the industry, the independent filmmaking community and our broader arts networks. We customize our development approach for each project, including financing proof-of-concepts with the goal of targeting further development at one of our operating divisions, and developing short form, digital content that can be brought to market for global audiences.
As an early investor in original ideas, we are uniquely positioned to push the conventions of storytelling and encourage creative risk-taking.
The name OneFifty reminds us that small investments can lead to big things.
The young Warner brothers Jack, Sam, Albert and Harry bought one of the earliest film projectors, a Kinetoscope, not long after the turn of the 20th Century. Our name comes from the $150 they needed to finance the purchase (which they did by consigning a beloved horse). It was a small but meaningful investment that spawned the Warners’ interest in moving pictures and, years later, the founding of what became–and remains–the world’s leading film and television studio, Warner Bros., and one of the three businesses that make up Time Warner.
