Latest Slate Presented at OneFifty’s Elevate 2017
On October 26th, creative executives from across Time Warner’s three divisions Warner Bros., HBO, and Turner came together for the second time in Los Angeles to learn about OneFifty’s latest slate.
Elevate 2017 showcased the projects we’ve been incubating and developing for the past year led by pitches from each creator. The event began with breakfast and opening remarks by Tamir Muhammad, OneFifty’s Head of Content and Artist Development, about our tremendous growth and accomplishments since inception two years ago.
Since last year’s Elevate event, we’ve had eight projects originate at OneFifty and move on to contract across our company, with at least one at each of our three divisions: HBO, Turner and Warner Bros. Some deals are still being negotiated and we can’t share details yet (stay tuned!), but Peter Girardi, EVP, Alternative Programming, WB Animation & Blue Ribbon Content, spoke on stage about one of them: Altered States a project with Young Guru and Anthony Leonardi of Bullitt Branded.
Tamir then introduced OneFifty 2.0 and our new mantra: “Curate. Develop. Invest.” It encapsulates our unique approach to developing stories differently. Our current slate demonstrates this approach and each project we previewed worked through these three stages, ultimately receiving funding for proof-of-concept productions that put to screen, each creators’ vision for their projects. This year’s slate includes diverse stories, themes, and genres, brought about by experimenting with character, story and form, all mindfully developed to target diverse global audiences. Highlights include American Paradise by Joe Talbot, which we’ve adapted into an anthology series and Dayton Jones by Nelson George, a drama series. Congratulations to the full slate of OneFifty creators: Geri Cole, Joanna Hausmann, Geeta Gandbhir, John Leguizamo and Tony Taccone, Damian Marcano, Eliza McNitt, Greg Pak and YOMYOMF, and Yasmin Elayat from Scatter for excellent presentations and a special thank you to Alexa L. Fogel, Casting Director / Producer, for previewing our collaboration called “Character First” whereby we’ve started development with talented writer/actors to hone character first and then build stories around them.
Following the pitches, our artists and the invited creative execs got to experience VR from Eliza McNitt and Scatter Immersive Media Studio, enjoy lunch, and mingle.
