Josephine’s films have screened at MoMA, SXSW, BAM, Silverdocs, and at festivals around the world, including Berlinale, Torino and London BFI. She has two award winning films on New Yorker‘s Top Ten List of 2014 and was named one of the “25 New Faces of Independent Film” by Filmmaker Magazine.

I think great artists and storytellers reveal us and our world to ourselves by showing us ourselves in a brand new way.

U.S. indie actor-director Josephine Decker has two hotly anticipated films screening in the Berlinale’s Forum section. Her directorial debut, “Butter on the Latch,” is a sinister folktale set in the Californian forest of Mendocino. Sophomore feature “Thou Wast Mild and Lovely,” which is world premiering in Berlin and is being sold by New Europe, is a sensual thriller inspired by “East of Eden,” set on a farm in Kentucky.
